BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Adam recently concluded a 30-year career in the corporate banking/finance industry, having served as a new business development officer at several major banks in his native New York and Los Angeles. Most recently, Adam was Senior Vice President and Manager of Union Bank’s Media and Communications Finance team in LA.
Adam received a B.S. from NYU’s School of Business and Public Administration (Cum Laude) and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
In addition to his involvement with SVP, Adam has been a long-time active member of Amnesty International, and has completed international pro-bono engagements with the Financial Services Volunteer Corps and an affiliate of George Soros’ Open Society Institute.
Ashley Boardman is the founder of Silicon Beach Legal, where she acts as outside corporate counsel for closely-held and emerging businesses.
Ashley graduated from Loyola Law School where she focused on transactional and intellectual property law and held student-elected positions in the Student Bar Association and Women’s Law Association.
Before law school Ashley earned a Bachelor’s degree with a dual major in Science, Technology and Society and Political Science from Vassar College, interned for her local US Congressman, assisted with grant writing for the African American Policy Forum, and worked at a progressive Seattle-based political consulting firm. She also worked as a high school mathematics teacher in Brooklyn, NY and analyst for business restructuring advisors in Manhattan. In her free time she loves backpacking through cities and mountains and is always planning a new adventure.
Ashley first participated as a Fast Pitch coach in 2013 has been an SVP Partner since 2014.
Bernadette Glenn is a Board Member and Executive Director of the WHH Foundation. Born and raised in Ireland, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and English from University College Dublin where she also received a Higher Diploma in Education. She received a Master of Philosophy in Gender and Women’s Studies from Trinity College Dublin. Since immigrating to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1979, Ms. Glenn has been active in education as a volunteer in her children’s schools and has served on several school boards.
Alicia Lara serves as Senior Vice President of Impact for United Way Worldwide. She is responsible for the overall design and development of programmatic strategies for the United Way network in the U.S. and internationally. Across 41 countries, local United Ways are partnering with business, civic and community leaders to improve the education, income and health of vulnerable families.
Previous to her position with United Way Worldwide, Ms. Lara was the Vice President for Community Investment at the United Way of Greater Los Angeles for nine years where she was responsible for the development and management of policy, research and grant making programs.
Ms. Lara brings extensive experience in philanthropy. At The California Endowment, a private foundation with priorities in health care access and health disparities, Ms. Lara held a number of positions including vice president of program; director of responsive grant making; and senior program officer.
She currently serves on the board of directors for The Ms. Foundation for Women, Funders Together to End Homelessness and the Larchmont Charter School. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from San Diego State University and a Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Mark Loranger is President & CEO of Chrysalis. He sets strategy in partnership with the Board of Directors and oversees its operations. During his tenure, Mark has led significant expansion of Chrysalis, including a 60 percent growth in programmatic outcomes, the redevelopment or renovation of all three of its centers, and a doubling of the agency’s revenue. In 2016, Chrysalis helped over 2,100 of its clients find employment.
Prior to being named CEO in early 2009, Mark served as Vice President of Chrysalis Enterprises, a group of social enterprise businesses that provide transitional jobs for Chrysalis clients. These businesses employ more than 500 clients each year and are recognized as among the most innovative, successful, and impactful social enterprises in the United States.
Mark has a diverse skill set developed over 30 years as both an entrepreneur and a corporate leader. Early in his career, Mark held various sales and technical positions for nearly a decade at IBM in both Washington, D.C. and New York. Among his entrepreneurial ventures, Mark founded, operated, and eventually sold a leading logistics and marketing firm in Southern California. He holds a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California Davis and a Masters in International Business from George Washington University.
Kaci Patterson has worked in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors for over 18 years. She began her career in the nonprofit sector while in college and soon developed a passion for advancing social justice through expanding educational, economic and political opportunity for people of color.
Prior to consulting, Kaci held several entry-to-executive-level roles, leading capacity building, education advocacy and social justice initiatives at the local, state, national and international levels. In addition to managing multi-million-dollar grant-making portfolios in the United States and abroad, Kaci pioneered capacity building programs, professional development and organizational initiatives that served networks of grassroots organizers, community advocates and over 1,000 civil society leaders and public officials. Always with an eye toward human dignity and community strengthening, Kaci’s mission is to push the world forward by working with philanthropic institutions, nonprofit organizations and public entities to design, operationalize and manage strategic social change initiatives from concept to implementation.
A lawyer and mediator by training, Carolyn currently serves as a Trust Research Specialist at US Trust, Bank of America. She also worked in trust administration for five years, working with high net worth clients. Prior to that, she served in AmeriCorps at the International Rescue Committee, helping refugees from Burma, Bhutan and Somalia adjust to their new lives in America.
Carolyn became an SVP partner in 2016. She was part of the partner team that co-created the Accelerator program. She served as Co-Chair of the 2018 Social Innovation Fast Pitch, and she currently hosts the SVP Book Club.
Carolyn has a JD from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she served as Lead Articles Editor of the San Diego Law Review, and a BA summa cum laude from UC San Diego
Alina Sanchez is CEO of MLabs Inc., a marketing consulting firm that specializes in strategy, communications planning and analysis. She and her team of consultants are the trusted advisors of executives and teams focused on high impact, innovative projects. Clients include 20th Century Fox, Adobe, Microsoft, SanDisk, Sony and SunPower as well as start-ups and nonprofit organizations.
As Co-founder and CMO of Wild Poppy, an organic beverage company sold in 1K+ locations across the country, she created the company name to capture the California spirit that the brand embodies. She leads marketing and operations. Alina and her team are keenly focused on moving this well-loved brand from where it is today, into the emerging iconic Wild Poppy brand it is becoming.
Alina was a founding Partner of the Bay Area Peninsula SVP chapter in 2002. She’s been an SVPLA Partner since 2012 and in this role has been a Fast Pitch coach, as well as a coach for CNN Heroes, the Honda Foundation, the Philanthropitch and the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Living Progress Challenge. She is a Trustee of La Sierra University where she is Chair of the Trusteeship (Executive) Committee and Board Vice-chair. She is also member of the Zapara School of Business Advisory Board.
